Look at these two boys cuddled up. lol Gotta love the silkie roosters.
My 5 month old cockerel and "uncle" Curly. He's probably 3, I lost count.
And what do you guys think about this pullet? Also 5 months old. Would she be worth breeding? She has good toes/feet and no split wings. She has a ton of wax on her crest and makes it look really flat. I might just have to wash her head to see what she'll look like with a fluffed up 'hair do'. Lacks a little bit on the foot feathering department also.
I don't think I'll ever use her for breeding myself, I don't have a white rooster. But I'm still thinking she would be worth breeding? Maybe I'll sell her. What would something like this be worth?
A hawk killed two of my silkies. I caught him with one of my hens the day before yesterday. But thought the rutkess i made would keep him away and yesterday he got my rooster. I could kick myself have been free ranging since summer in the day and lock everyone away in the evenings without incident but now gonna have to build a chicken run and in the meantime keep them on lock down. Plus gonna have to clean up the mess the hawk made. She was the best layer, and he was my only silkie rooster.
Nice find! Found my friend a baby white silkie in a tub squished underneath sussex and maran chicks. This silkie will be spoiled rotten! I am currently on babysitting duty, "she" is in my shirt snuggling at the moment. She won't let me put her down! Everytime I try to put her back in her box she cries loudly until I pick her up again. She will also only eat and drink with my hand in the box.

Haha, since you asked so nicely!! They are soooo cute. We have more due to hatch in the next week or so too! There are a few other breeds mixed in with the Silkies but mostly, they are all Silkies!
This is totally the cutest-yet-awkward Silkie stage, right? I love them as their feathers are growing in.
My favorite three month old white. I am pretty sure it is turning out to be a he though. That's not a bad thing, I just was hoping for a gorgeous white hen!
