Silkie thread!

I hatched out some silkies and I have a question about color...

One hatched out yellow, one hatched out white. I know most white chickens hatch yellow, and it seems like this yellow chick is starting to feather out white or cream even (they're about a month old now, I know it's still pretty early.)
Whats the difference? Why would one hatch white, and the other hatch yellow?

I believe the white chick's egg was labeled white. I believe the others were labeled bbs. (I do have one buff that was labeled as such on the egg.) So is it possible for a bbs pen to hatch out a ...whatever this yellow (or the white one, if the yellow was actually the white labeled egg) chick will turn into?
I'm assuming they will both be white... but perhaps the yellow one would be almost a cream, or light buff.(porcelain?) Possible?

Thanks :)

I candled my silkie's eggs again today, the little embryos are twitching and bouncing all over the place

I got really bored the other night and thought I would tinker around with this neat website builder on Wix.com. Ended up building a website for my chickens! I think it is ridiculously hysterical.

Some day I might make it a little more formal and not so silly looking. lol

What do you guys think?

The website builder is really cool. Gives you pretty much limited options for web design. I like to tinker around with things like this occasionally, just for fun.
Great job on the website! Fun isn't it?
I'm playing catch up again.
WOWZA!!!! He is a stunner!!!

They would make a good match wouldn't they?

Thanks so much!!
she hasnt injured her head as far as we know. thanks for all of the info
Very likely a head injury. Unfortunately it doesn't take much. Silkies don't have a hard skull. It's like a human babies soft spot.
They were on a surface, and I was floor level :) Plus I have an amazing camera. I love it <3

Thank you for the compliments!!
Thank you!

My Camera. I use this lens:

Here are some of my recent shots with my stabilizer lens.

Thanks for the compliments! :)
Really wonderful photography! Super nice website!

The white one is very likely splash. My splash are usually white for a few weeks before they get their spots.

Even adult silkie skulls are extra soft? Or just the chicks?

Thanks for the input! the other BBS ones are are definite grey-blue. I can't believe how different it would hatch out! That's good to know, thanks!

Thank you everyone for the compliments on my website!

Sanna,

Let me know when you have a FB page. I'll like you

Oh, good! lol I'll post it here for everyone to see.
While you're waiting, I recently made a photography page http://www.facebook.com/sanna.piispanen.1#!/sannapiispanenphotography?fref=ts
And here's the non-profit farm I work for/live on http://www.facebook.com/sanna.piispanen.1#!/pages/Ray-of-Light-Farm/124750411920?fref=ts

Sanna and Aoxa, what kind of cameras do you guys use? DSLR's ???? The quality you get in your shots is very good. Either one of you could be professional photographers at shows. Sanna do you take all the pictures for your farm advertising? Why don't one of you start a general photography thread? I would participate. Maybe there already is one, I haven't looked.
I hae a Canon EOS Rebel T3. Looks like aoxa has the same kind.

I use a 18-55mm with an image stabilizer and 75-300mm lenses. I want something that'll zoom close like the small lense AND zoom far, like my big one. One of these days...when I'm rich and famous!

I have taken most of the pictures we have on our farms Facebook page. Some pictures on the website are shots I took, most were taken by the lady that runs the website. She also does some photography. I need to get off my butt and make some prints and other products to sell. We have a nice tack & gift store on the property where I could sell these things. But all that requires all this money also..

I'll come up with some sort of a plan that will be beneficial for myself AND the farm!

You website is looking great! I dont think it is silly... just more personal and that isnt bad with chickens! Websites are such fun to play around with. I have just switched mine over from my Miniature Horses ( which were sold when I moved) to my Silkies... Seems like my websites are always a work in progress. Right now I pretty much just have pictures but hope to include more info as I get is set up. You can visit Feather Springs Farm if you are interested... http://feathersprings.fischerworks.com I love to see everyones websites and Silkies!
I love your chickens! And I love pictures so any website with lots of pictures works for me.

I considered the two lenses available and went with the pricier one. Not sure why it something that zooms in less would cost more, but I love it!
How much does a quality stabilizer typically cost?
Set us back a little over $300. I had a 100$ discount because I bought the same camera for my in-laws for Christmas. Regularly they are right around $400.
