Lil chick is 8 days old today, here Is Pip. Yes, we finally found a name for him/her.. Pip. They grow so fast. Already has wing and feet feathers showing. This pic was taken seconds ago, just chillin in my palm so quiet and calm. Such a good chick!

I think my white silkie "snow" is getting broody. I went out to close them up and she was in the spot where she lays her eggs and sleeps. But I noticed she was just kind of laying there. So I picked her up so I could check for eggs and she just stayed in the same position. I took her egg and she pretty much didn't move once I put her down. She has been acting a little different lately. Does it sound like she might be going broody??

Awesome!! That's kind if what I thought but I wasn't too sure. I've had a Cochin go broody but that's it. Looks like she will be getting a little nesting box and some if the eggs I was going to put in the incubator.

do you have any pictures? They are most likely mixes if they have NO foot or leg feathering.

I can snap some pictures tomorrow. No, they don't have any foot feathering.

RockerHen, I got them from the JM Hatchery. Their other brothers and sisters have foot feathering.

I need your help Silkie Experts....my young hen has a crooked neck(wry neck?) AND a large lump where her "ear"(the pretty blue spot) is? Im giving vitamins in the water and the Poly Vitamins(babies with out iron)....any other suggestions? Thanks so much!

Can you check for ear mites? I have heard of birds having crusty lumps on the ears which turn out to be mites. I believe they are treated with dog ear solution.
