I will go with the oatmeal... and maybe some Vet RX.So I know that tea tree oil is toxic to birds, but how is eucalyptus? I just bought a shampoo with eucalyptus and peppermint.

Eucalyptus is the awesome ingredient in Vicks Vapor Rub that causes the soothing cool feeling and fantastic smell. I would imagine a eucalyptus and peppermint shampoo would be WONDERFUL and would make your scalp feel great

Smart little hen to move her eggs away from the poo.My broody has a seriously dirty butt, like seriously dirty. Its pretty cold here, so I'm not sure if I should leave it or clean it. If I bring her inside and bathe her, I'll have to blow dry her too- and that seems to take forever. Also, I think if I clean her up, her little bum will just end up poopy again. I've caught her pooping while sitting on her eggs several times. She does, then moves the eggs to a spot away from the yuck (she's not actually pooping on them though). I pulled her off and made her come out this morning, while she was getting a drink I checked her butt. It doesn't look like the poo is touching her skin (to me) but its close. Should I bathe her or leave it until the eggs hatch?I don't know what to do with her!!!!![]()

How do some of them keep their butts so darn clean and others look like they have a cement block stuck to their back end??
Hi Guys,
I am very new to the world of Silkies and I am still trying to figure out some of the colors. I bought this cutie from a friend who hatched some eggs from a quality breeder. I cannot tell if this one is a buff or maybe porcelain?? I would really appreciate any thoughts you more experienced Silkie Lovers have. Thanks in advance!![]()
Even though I cannot see them, I am pretty sure they are. She has all the symptoms describing mites face. I started with natural remedies but unfortunately it did not work or helped out.I meant for me haha. I didn't know if it is toxic. But are you sure it has mites? You could try getting a skin scraping from a vet to check. I don't know if it is really mites and over doing the mite treatments are not good. You could do as suggested sand go with a more holistic approach like an all natural pesticide. There are loads out there! Try the ones from the blog about " herbs in the nest box" , there is a whole list of them. You can just google it.
