Silkie thread!

Hi I just got my first silkie chicks last week and was wondering if someone can help me identify the color they are. They were sold to me as buff and partridge though now I know that isnt so. They are super cute though

Just so everyone knows: I HATE WINTER!!!!

How is the rest of the world doing with Winter Storm Nemo? Not pretty over here on the East Coast, Connecticut. I don't even want to look outside, got all the curtains closed. Out of sight, out of mind? Yeah, I wish! I can hear the wind and wet snow hitting the windows.... And the worst is yet to come.

I will know when I go to lock up the chicken coop haha! Right now I can't hear or see anything, it's too dark. But we'll see. Gonna have to get up in the middle of the night though to clear off the tarp over the run so it doesn't cave!

It's dark here too but I can definitely hear all kinds of stuff. lol I would love it if I could just sleep through this storm. I could use a break anyway.

Good luck with the chickens! I have ours locked up. I'm hoping we won't lose power so their heat lamps won't go out.

Not loving it either!! I'm hoping my tarp will be okay and the plastic around the sides. I tightened it up some today but my fingers were freezing. I did shake off some too when I closed them up. On the up side at least it's light and fluffy and some of it will blow off the run. Not looking forward to the overnight though....I am hoping we don't lose power. I've got 4 dozen assorted eggs in the incubator and a heat lamp pointed towards one of my silkie coops. My little white silkie has gone broody and she has 5 eggs under her.

I didn't use a heat lamp with mine for that reason. They can easily withstand the cold without the extra heat. Only time I added any source of additional heat was when it was below zero a few weeks ago, I gave them a heat disk but it only lasts a few hours. I made them some soup for tomorrow morning

I think they will be happy!

The weather turned out surprisingly nice today. It was awful this morning and sunny this afternoon... the wonders of being in TN. ;) So I decided it was photo time!

We are thinking about taking this splash pullet to Newnan in a few weeks. We have a white we are definitely taking. She really needs a bath!

One of our partridge roos... he is about five months right now. He looks red in the light but he is not red AT ALL.

This boy is just a giant ball of fluff (who is molting right now). He looks really feminine, however, he ACTS totally male (and he is a male).

I am loving how this white boy is turning out. He's about two months now.Until about two weeks ago we couldn't tell and then all of a sudden, total boy. Was hoping he'd be a girl.
