Have you tried treating it? Do you know what it is from? A lot of the times it is from a vitamin deficiency. I was actually just going to post pictures of my friend's chick who is battling with wry neck right now, she is doing MUCH better! Just friday she was dragging her head and couldn't stand on her own. She looked TERRIBLE! Today this is what she looks like, she has been getting Poly-Vi-Sol without iron 4 times a day and is hand fed. Sorry for the poor quality!

im pretty sure its from an injury because she got it when she was a yr old nobody else got it and i treated for several months nothing ever helped some days she looks good and some days she just falls over she isnt laying right now because of the weather i believe but i reallly want her to though because she is my only paint hen

But get a silver laced. I have one, he is my avatar, his name is Toulouse. But be warned, they are not very common in the US and I don't think there are a lot of breeders who breed them, so you may need to get hatchery. BUT, Toulouse is a second generation hatchery and he is gorgeous so you never know.

Not that I know of. I bought them from a reputable Silkie/Sizzle breeder who told me this was the 9th or 10th generation. I don't know what to think. I'm slowly conditioning them to a cooler area of the house so they will feather-out more. I'm afraid I made them too comfortable at first Now I have some chicks that will start hatching (hopefully) this week so I need them to go to the garage. Last night I kept them in 70 degree room. At 5 weeks is that too cold for them? I've done this gradually over this last week so they will fluff out. At what age would you guys put the silkies & sizzles in the garage? I'm in northern California & it's still pretty cold.

If you reach out to breeder, I bet s/he would give you good advice for your area of CA.

Here is older sis (almost positive she's a she). Only 10 1/2 weeks now and a ton of fluff. Unfortunately she has wry neck but she's doing quite well but you can see her head is crooked. I was hoping to breed a light blue partridge but most are a dark "porcelain". Just pretty eye candy. There's a 7 week old down at her feet. That's not all her.

She is a beauty...

I have had a couple like that. Usually pullets. My only sizzle I have had was larger than the silkie chicks after a while! I would think as long as she is acting ok I wouldnt worry too much. Three of these chicks were hatched from the same pen ( front, left and center) and the one in the back middle is a lot smaller than the others. The one on the right is about 3 weeks older.

I love your coops! Doesn't look like you got as much snow as we did.
This was the view from my kitchen window 7:30am today.

Some of you probably know how tall those gates are? You can only see half of it..


My chickens are in this beige building.. Silkies & cochins on right side, turkeys on left.


I dug out 5 chicken coops today. They're all spread out all over the farm.. Then we had to dig a path for our sheep so they can get to the water bucket. Same for the mini cows and goats. Of course the water buckets and shelters are at the opposite ends of their paddocks...

I don't even know if we have a plow on this farm that'll go through all this snow... Roads haven't even been plowed yet so the big plow trucks can't get here. Aaaaaaargh!!!

I love the little path to your coop. Lucky you only have one path. I feel like I dug a million of those this morning. It's only 11:30am right now and the horses still need 3 more feedings before the night... At least the poultry and other small animals have been taken care of.


Yeah, you people over there are lucky!

Try prancing around in snow up to your crotch. lol
