So cute! I'm hoping my little wry neck baby looks like this one when she gets better and grows up.

Why do the Silkies in hatchery books look so different from the ones I see on here and on other talk sites. The ones I like have the big puffy heads and faces are almost covered with fluff but the Hatchery ones arent as fluffy? Are they a different breed? Better or worse??? Just wondering.....thanks!

Some people have posted gorgeous pictures of hatchery chickens. A lot of people who buy silkies also bath them and blow dry them and they are fluffier after primping, also depends on the time of year, if they are molting etc.

O
Do I need to start my Silkie chicks on vitamins as a preventive?  Is there anything else they need?

I have heard a lot about people using Black Oil Sunflower Seeds (BOSS) for their chickens. It provides extra nutrients and is supposed to help with or help prevent Wry Neck. I give it to all all my birds (mixed in with the layer)and I also grind some up very fine and mix it in with the starter feed for the young chicks. Everyone here seems to love them :)
