Thank you so much Nola :)

I have to announce something else here.. I've been sharing it whereever I can.

We have a new member in the family..

We still haven't decided on a name 100% yet, but I am stuck on Henry. I just love that name and I feel like it fits him.

He is a Bernese Mountain dog. We did not want to get another Great Pyr. Too much like Clementine.. We were torn between the bernese and the Newf. Decided on the Bernese because of the drool factor. This line has been imported from Sweden, and the breeder has been breeding these guys for 20 years. They are registered, guaranteed and microchipped (with first shots and check-up).

Her last 3 she had to put down were 12 years old. That is a really good age for a Bernese Mountain Dog. They typically have short lifespans because they are more prone to fatal cancers. Also can have hip and elbow issues, but this line has been thoroughly tested, and again - he is guaranteed to be joint/hip issue free until 2. She said if they are going to have these issues, you find out before a year old for the most part.

His parents.. oh my.. so loveable. His dad is named Rico and is stunning. He is 7 years old. His mom is 6 and he was her last. She was just spade. He was the only pup in the litter. The remaining sibling was still born.

I'm in love.

Oh we won't have him until Saturday. Time to get the house ready for the pup!
How exciting for you they're are one of my favorite breeds, but I always seem to end up with cattle dogs. Good Luck! Henry is a cute name

The silkie chicken is a very claim breed they dont get very big like my black copper marans my two silkies are great broodys and love to lay on eggs they hatch out my black copper marans eggs you should not kill a silkie because they can hatch out your other chickens eggs for you .If you hold and teach your chicken to be good at a young age they will be great!! GOOD LUCK

He looks like a good boy! I love the white "design" on his face.... almost looks like a silkie lol. Can't wait to see more pics.
I have the best husband in the world!

Look what he made me this afternoon. I can't wait to put it up on the girls' coop.

I like it a lot!
So over the weekend I put the remaining Silkie pair in with the layer flock. Had no problems with picking on them until I put my LF rooster back in early this morning. I went out this afternoon(after sleeping for the day) and discover Marsala(Porcelain pullet) with almost all her crest feathers gone and hiding in the coop with my broody and her chicks. General Tso is doing fine and was outside with the other birds. Both are back in the tractor until I get the bantam set-up built. At least no broken skin on anyone.
Aie aie aie :(
I was skeptical about adding them to your existent flock. I am just glad she isn't injured too badly. I am sorry!
Our first broody. Momma (Julia) and baby.

Growing monkeys
Too cute

That was one of the first things I noticed lol! When we bought our house last year there was no outbuildings so with all that had to be done to the house the first priority was building a chicken coop

So funny! My husband has the brilliant idea of moving to a town that doesn't allow chickens...my answer was "The town doesn't allow chickens, so that would be a "no" to moving there". We have far too many silkies to "hide" and that just wouldn't work. He truly acted like he expected me to say "That's ok, we'll just sell them all and move to that town". Ummmm no!

Could anyone please help me figure out this lil silkies gender? Its 3 weeks old and the largest of all the silkie chicks its age. I was hopping it would be male because I like my birds to be nice and hardy. If its female thats ok too lol, but i want it to be a roo

I know bantams are hard to sex when young ,
but if anyone has any experience with silkie chicks
and sexing could you help me please?
