Good luck! I had a cockatiel that got egg bound once. We got her to the vet in time so she was just fine. Nori is a special girl.Taking Nori to the vet this afternoonshe has an egg stuck, it's too large for her pelvis. I would colapse it myself but I don't have the means to do it.![]()
Love Silkie chicks
Quote: Thanks Countrygirl. You're right...the stare-down are pretty funny.![]()
Looks like a cockeral to me. Do you have a straight head shot of him? I was wanting to see if he has a more pointed streamer like crest or a round bonnet like crest. My white cockeral looks like that one with a small walnut comb and tiny wattles!Anyone know if this might be a roo or pullet? Not having any luck getting folks to give me information https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/755316/silkie-roo-or-hen#post_10704960![]()

Palace is lovely and looking very girly. Very nice chicks!!Of course it was sunny when I ran upstairs to grab my camera but got cold and cloudy when I was finaly ready to take the chicks out for a photo shoot.. So I only got a couple good ones and ran them back in to get under the heat.
This is Palace, she's my only MB chick left. Almost 15 weeks. I love "her" I think it's a she.
A box of babies.. In some natural light.
Splash with the most fluff
White, letting me know it's cold outside.
And.. the rest of my pics are blurry. I was trying to hurry. Next time I'lll wait till it's a little warmer with a little more sun![]()
Way too young to know show quality. At this age I look for things that would be disqualifications. Calico is not a recognized color but can be show AOV. They are very pretty. Give them a couple of more months to develop and see what you have.Hey guys I just bought 3 8-9 wk old silkies I believe I have two roo's and one hen. I have a Calico Roo, a white roo and a Partridge pullet.how would you know if they were show quality?![]()
Doesn't look splash but that could be the lighting. The other looks blue. I don't see any vault or bonnet. #2 is good feathering. Toe problem could be incubation or heredity.hey yall i got some questions about my week olds
1...is that a splash and blue chick?
2.....is that good foot feathering?lol
3....i think the end toe got deformed while incubation?
4...is my partridge chick a SG or is that a bald spot that will grow in with feathers?
5....is this a vaulted skull or a nice bonnet?
thanx for any input!!!!!
Nice chicks! I was able to sex my "porcelain" chicks from Catdance very early as the males were very fast maturing. Your's looks to have a good size comb already but it's still too early to be sure.I hear people say its hard to sex silkies and it takes forever to figure it out but I thought Id post some updates pics of my 2 chicks and see if anyone has any opinions. Pics arent great becasue they were running from my phone lol There are 2 chicks in theses pics 1 splash and 1 porcelain about 7 weeks old

Very cute photo!!
Question - at what age do you usually switch from starter to layer feed? I read one article that said switch at four months but another one said keep them on starter until they lay first egg. For silkies, this could be a long time.
