Yay, I get my 3 Catdance chicks via Chicknlove's hatching in the morning.

you most likely wouldn't be able to see them, most are microscopic. You can try deworming it, also give it probiotics and electrolyte/vitamins after you worm it. I use wazine but it only covers a few things so you should go with a more broad spectrum dewormer. Someone else should know what to use, mainly try and treat for coccidia. Here's a link with info on it and how to treat it, I would treat your whole flock just in case. http://forum.backyardpoultry.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7975815
I put them out side in the chick house last night. I was thinking maybe they were getting too hot and crowded in the tub in the house. Now it's snowing!
It seems like a few more are acting agitated and pecking their feet and running around too. I watered down the FF chick starter to lessen the amount of Cayenne they were getting. Other than that, they seem to be thriving. Just weird behavior I hadn't seen before.
What are you using for their bedding? I read that they shouldn't be kept on Cedar shavings. Just trying to think of what could be bothering them.

I know she uses Pine shavings, so not that issue.
Hi All,
I need some advice (or personal experience) about a situation. Last month many of you guys helped me recover a little chick with wry neck. She did recover from that, but now seems to have a type of straddle leg -only worse. (She is almost 3 months old and didn't have straddle leg as a baby chick.) One of her legs goes behind her like it is perhaps dislocated at the hip. She walks around as little as necessary to eat and drink. I don't know if she is suffering with pain. And, I don't know if the legs/hip can recover.
I fear that she has some very weak genetics as new issues keep coming up.She is a beautiful "light blue" from my own rooster and hen so maybe I've selfishly overlooked her problems. I wanted her to be in my BBS pen but realize this would be a huge mistake.
I get so attached to my chickens and need to learn that I can't help or keep every one. Someone offered to "take care of her" for me. Should I let them do it?![]()
RIP George![]()
Great Pic.. but it scares the hell outta me!![]()
Not to confuse you even further but mine has done this twice since hatch at 3 and 4 days old and it was one of the whites. It hasn't happened since. I use scratch and peck starter feed and some bobs redmill corn meal. They got elecrolites in their water the first couple days of life in the brooder but other then that I can't think of it being allergies. Can the way pin feathers grow in bug them ?? IDK they look uncomfortable to me haha. Sorry if this is no help.. Are they still doing this?
Quote: I disagree. If she has only been brooding 3 days, she will not have been brooding nearly long enough when they start hatching, and she is likely to kill the chicks. Now if the had been sitting for a week or so, then fine, but not three days with eggs that are already a couple of weeks along.
6000 eggs!My gosh.. I'm offline for a couple of days and 121 new messages! Yikes!!I don't think I'll have time to catch up with all of it just yet, but will do reading later today.![]()
We've been busy here at the farm getting ready for our 8th annual Easter Egg Hunt! We have 6000 easter eggs. All filled with candy. And guess what? We had to fill them all by hand!So this fun starts today at 11am! Should be fun. We'll have hoards of kids running around hunting for eggs.![]()

And some chicken related news! I a took an hour drive to go pick up 3 silkie chicks for my very, VERY broody hen going on 2 weeks now! They were supposed to be show quality but after seeing moms and dads....not so much! lol Too bad the guy couldn't send me pictures before I drove an hour each way. That's ok. They're darn cute and momma is one happy girl!![]()

More chicken news! I'm entering two of my silkies to our very first show!
I took some to a fair last year but that doesn't count in my opinion. lol This will be a real show and it's only half an hour away from where I live. I've been waiting for this show for a year!
So, I'll be taking my Catdance chicks and going to a show in a few weeks. Wish me luck!![]()
