Silkie thread!

If I were to see this without an age, I would say girl. But 9 weeks is pretty young and that comb is a bit larger than my girls' were. I would give it a few more weeks. A boy should become more obvious then. How does it behave?
Well it used to stand with it's chest out and peck at the dog and bunny, but I don't know if it does that anymore. It will stand upright sometimes, and squat other times.

Good Mornin Silkie Pros!

I have a questions bout breeding silkies....Im am not a pro. Can you breed different color silkies to one another. Like if I have a buff roo and a gray, partridge & red silkie...what would happen? Or is it not recommened? And can I breed a buff silkie roo to frizzles...a white one, buff one and black hens?

You will get a mess of colors. Probably no true recognized colors. The only one that would come out right would be black, but it wouldn' breed true black, it would carry buff.

Nori is back to laying normally

Just looked because she was nesting and found a perfect little egg under her. Hoping she will collect a few and go broody. Should I just leave it in there for her to collect a clutch of them? Ice is also in there with her, I tried taking her out but Nori got upset her friend was leaving so I had to put her back.

Up to a month.. if another rooster is introduced you could get eggs that have been fertilized by each...
oh goody =) I want her to hatch some from her and toulouse's pairing! I have someone who has a few in the incubator, but she said only 2 looked like they were growing out of 7 (that was my first attempt at collecting them) I will have to ask her if they are still doing well.

Ok thanks. Does the stainless steel react to the vinegar? I just looked up stainless steel fermentation tank and found that companies use stainless steel tanks to brew beer. Seems like it would be safe then for fermented feed. Is there something I'm not aware of that makes stainless steel a poor decision? Thanks.
Use plastic or glass.
