Silkie thread!

One of my 2 month old chicks (the one with the cute face) has suddenly developed wry neck symptoms

It's not dragging the floor bad, but it's definitely tilted. S/he's been separated from the flock (with one other chick to keep company) and has been given poly vi sol drops. Would giving the liquid from vitamin e capsules with the poly vi sol helps speed up recovery? I have a bottle of them in the house.

yes...and remember time helps even though you think it willl never get better it will i learned it the hsrd way i almost culled a chicken with wry neck becausr it jad been sick for months and then one day when i had forgot to cull it it got better!

I have read not to give poly vi sol with vitamin e and selenium drops because you CAN overdose them on vit E. I had extreme success giving 2-3 drops of poly-vi-sol 4 times a day until symptoms improved. It took about a week to start improving but once it did it did very fast. Our chick was very bad off though, doing summersaults it's head was so far underneath it. It looked like something from the exorcist!

Also, make sure it is WITHOUT IRON

So in short, either give the poly-vi-sol OR the vitamin E drops (you HAVE to give selenium as well or it's useless to give the vit E)

Ha ha ha. She is only around a month old so her nose isn't being tickled yet I don't think... she's still pretty tiny with not a lot of fuzz yet. Sand hu? I could probably get some at my local hardware/lumber store? I just have to make sure it's not silica, right?
Thanks to everyone for your help. I'll see about locating some sand for her though she does seem to enjoy throwing the shavings around.

I built a roost for my silkie but they never used it not even when we had a flash flood and I had to wade out and save them. I used dog kennel wire on the run and I used hardware cloth on the all of the windows and doors of the coop. We also close up the coop at night.

Wow your silkies are really gorgeous, its a shame I am so so far, since I found BYC been reading Silkie threat and I am always amazed on how beatiful silkies you all have there. Got my first chicks 7 months ago, which was not easy at all here in Costa Rica, but I have to admit that though we love them, they are not even half as gorgeous as yours.
I keep the faith someday gonna have at least one of those beauties, so thats why im writing here to see what you think:

A friend of mine lives in San Diego, and she travels to Costa Rica once a year, dont know exactly when this year she will, but do you think that if she can get some SQ flock eggs and bring them to my country there will be still a chance they hatch?
