Mine unsual start getting a crest at about 7 wks. Some times sooner. Don't give up!

He shouldn't be tripping. You might try trimming some off. Maybe it's too big.

What a unique cutie! I'm thinking she's a silkie cross. Do you know what she might be crossed from?


She is a cross. Sadly we have no idea what with. :/ but are Hoping to find out on here.

I have a silkie old engish bantam game bantam cross that looks like your Ellie, she too is a very sweet hen.

We know she is cross. Hoping to find out what with in time. So glad you mentioned one. Either way she will be beautiful.

She's adorable =) But she looks more like a Silkie/ Polish cross or something like that, she is lacking the silkied feathers. But still adorable!

um, their not very heat tolerant, but they will manage. i live in a fair climate with averages of 75 f. my silkies do great

I had silkies in Tuscon and moved them to Oklahoma. They lived for years. Just fine.

Up here in NH it got to the high 90's last summer and it does affect them if they do not have a place for shade and to drink cold water. Some people set up a misting system for them to cool down and take a mud bath. Sand is a great bedding selection for summer months because if it's in the shade it stays cool so they can lay down and cool off. But it has to be construction or river sand, with different sizes of granules. Also try to get sand with out silica.
