Does anyone know if you can boil/cook the "clear" eggs from an incubator? They didn't develop. I thought about giving them to the chickens instead of letting them go to waste but wasn't sure they'd be safe? I have 17 eggs#!

I guess I should mention they were on Day 13?

I love silkies! I put my 6 week olds out last night and wondered if my 5mo would treat them well if I put them in the new coop together. I thought it was a good time to see since its a new place for them both. Gee, I never thought they would get along so well! She looks like a little mama with her chicks. Sooo freaking adorable! She didn't even mind them jumping up an getting a taste of her FF beard! I just love silkie personalities! THey will be stuck in their coop for a few days until our pen project gets finnished up this weekend. I'll post pics of the progression. It's under our 8 x 16' deck.

Here is our work in progress. This weekend we will bring in some dirt to level it up and then add sand. Then we will line it all the way around with 1" chicken wire from top to bottom. Making a step and putting the screen door in the middle of the last photo. Add some hanging flower baskets and voila. There is a dahlia garden to the right of the third picture and raspberries and strawberries on the other side with gladiolus in the front. It should look pretty nice here in July

I would love to see others silkie set ups and how it works for you

My hubby built the coop mostly from pallets we got for free and the enclosure around it we built next to the storage shed. He will be finishing up putting up the chicken wire this weekend, then he will start building the chicken run off to the side.
We have 6 red sex link pullets and 8 silkies that just arrived last week.

Looks awesome! I would use 1" hardware cloth instead of chicken wire, just read where a hawk got a chick thru the chicken wire. http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/search?q=Chicken+wire

I need some advice please.

I have 8 silkies that are 6 days old. One of them is smaller than the others- like he hasn't grown since he was born. I rarely see him do anything other than stand around with his eyes closed and sometimes passes out with his head in the food bowl. Today I noticed that the other chicks are starting to peck at him and stand on top of him. Is there anything I do to help the little guy?
