Silkie thread!

I know this isn't the place to ask, but anyone in SoCal have any splash silkies? Looks like I keep finding the same colors but no splashes. Thanks in advance guys and gals :p

.
I'm sorry, but this chick doesn't look porecelain. Does the photo reflect it's accurate color?

I'm located in NC. Well it hatched from a porceiln egg from a reputable breeder's isolated pen. I hope it is what I paid for.

You already got an answer to your question. Just wanted to say that these are some really neat pictures!

You must do some photography?
I wouldn't call it photography because I have had no training or anything. I just got my first DSLR, so for now I just like having fun with it.

I love shooting my chickens the most. lol

I was also wondering about this kids color. I would say blue but it is very light and I am not sure how to identify lavender or any other varieties. I am not sure if you can tell from these pictures but, the lady I bought them from claimed they were show quality. I have no idea what show quality would be since I just got into silkies 3 weeks ago because of an impulse buy. However he may be to young to tell quality. * He does have 5 nice toes on each foot. *When all my chicks are older I will post more pictures for opinions.

I think he likes his picture taken.

Here is updated pics of my silkies. Can anyone tell me their gender. They are 14 weeks old. What color would you say they are?

I have not seen one this dark. Have you asked the breeder about it? They are usually the best people to solve a mystery. Porcelains are a project color and they do not always breed true.

I agree. Excellent photos! This chick looks light blue.

Last month I bought 3 random silkie chicks from local feed store. One yellow with little brown dots on head, one solid black and one mostly all gray, some shades of black.
Now at 4 weeks I would love help telling the color they will become. These are my first silkies (all the rest are big hens).
The little yellow one now has many dark brown shades of brown on wings, and more brown dots on head (very cute).
Surprising to me are the other two:
They look almost alike now!
The solid black one has many shades of gray.
The gray one has more shades of black but still lighter than the other one.
Anyone have any ideas of how they will look in a few more months?

Also, now they live in large dog pen inside the coop with the big girls (2 each Buff O's, EE's, RIR's and Barred Rocks) that are 12 weeks old.
So they are getting used to each other...wondering if when they are BIGGER if they can live in harmony with the big girls? Do they mix into standard hen flocks okay?
Thanks for any help.

Hey so I think at least one of my friend's silkies has an ear infection. She has dirty feathers on her muffs even after scrubbing and I know she had been scratching. Didn't help she had crest mites either. What could I use that is cheap to treat them in case they have ear infections? I have a natural ear cleaner I sued on my cat when he had earmites, could I use it on them too? It has apple cider vinegar in it I believe.

Could have mites in the ear, I have heard people put vegetable oil in the ear and smother them.
