Silkie thread!

Here's my dumb question of the day... About how old are silkies when they're full grown? As big as they're gonna get? I feel like my 2ish month olds haven't gotten any bigger in a while, just floofier
It varies, right now i have a couple 5 month olds that look about the same size as my adults but not as filled out. That 2 month old age seems like it takes forever to get past and then all of a sudden they look like Silkies :)

Just a couple pics of the finished silkie pen and some comparison pics of how fast these silkies go from the ugly stage to stunning

The under the deck coop filled with sand.

The white in front is 6 months
the rest have all caught up to her already at just 3 months old.
Here are my 6 four week olds seperated by an x pen. They look so small compared to the 3 month olds. Only 8 week difference. It's pretty unbelieveable!

Palace wanted to show you all her butt fluff

Cute name. Next time I have a white cockerel I may decide to name it Castle--as in White Castle. Of course he would need a "Hamburger" or "Slider" to go with that theme...

When you cross a vaulted skull hen with a non but poofy skull male will you get vaulted and non vaulted skulled chicks?

Hi and Welcome to the wonderful world of Silkie Ownership - and Welcome to BYC! :welcome

They are great birds, and I have had lots of fun with mine.  They really like to hatch their own chicks and go broody anytime you leave eggs in the nest!

It sounds like they have plenty of room.  They may not join in the fun of playing with the pumpkins and cabbage if they can't see it, but if they see the others jumping up they might join in the fun - and I am sure they will clean up anything that gets dropped.

Thanks for the tip, here is picture of my new babies
