Silkie thread!

Two of my babies, a 4 month old silkie and Kota, our almost 4 year old Anatolian Shepherd. He's actually just hitting mental maturity for his breed. The silkies love him, they know they can get away with stealing his food and treats without retaliation. We were giving the dogs some boiled turkey yesterday (our tom was killed by a fox, but not eaten, we were able to salvage his meat) and the silkies were grabbing little pieces from between his paws! The only thing I don't like about this girl (besides her wings) is her rather 'flat' looking crest. It's got a ton of pins in it, however. so it may fill out more.
That looks like it may be a cockerel

just my opinion so take it lightly but it looks like it may start getting streamers.

I dearly, dearly want a cockerel that looks like this, so if that's what it is, I'll be ecstatic. But I've seen no behavior that suggests a cockerel. I've even seen my current rooster mount it. I check for streamers almost every day, but all I see is pins and fluff

Do silkies boink like quail? Like whatever they can?? Or does the cockerel know which is a female even if we're not quite sure? I had a sizzle crowing at 3 months, but has since quit & is now clucking. The roo is trying to jump on her back. Does this indicate that it really is a female??? I'm hoping!!! Her name is HOPE!!! lol Hope for a girl!!

My cockerel still shows almost no cockerel behavior, only crowing. Some roosters will mount cockerels, it's a dominance thing. The streamers only just came in too, they started as pins and then after a bath they popped up. He is 5 months old. Only reason I knew he was a male is because he started to grow a larger comb. How does the comb look on this one?

Might not. Sometimes they will stop crowing if there is a more dominant rooster, like they are "chicken" lol. Could be a hen who was confused but probably a cockerel. Yes, roosters will usually "boink" whatever lol though I have heard of some who will determine sex for you of chicks by chasing away any males

Hope is totally acting REALLY girly.... like screaming when Peep jumps on her back. She talks about it a lot!! LOL So funny. She is very dramatic, but she hasn't been acting like she did for awhile. She would run around & puff up to Peep. She's very submissive & shy now. He totally ignores her except to try his boinking skills out :) lol He tries practicing on her more than on my beautiful frizzled sizzle :) HOPE HOPE HOPE it's a girl!!!

I have several silkie roos. Some are terribly loud and some are very quiet.
Here are our new Silkie babies from Kelar. They are the first Silkies we have ever hatched. They are so cute and fluffy! Im so glad my daughter begged me for them. <3

Beautiful babies! The blue boy in my avatar is from a Kelar egg.

He's not spoiled at all

My Boy, Peep :) He's 5 months old, crowing like crazy & trying to boink my sizzle's face & jump on my smooth sizzle's back. Is that normal at his age? The ladies run and cry !! Country?? This is your freak, non-bearded boy ;)
Very cute! Love to see them spoiled!
