Silkie thread!

My two girls are broody right now. They are both sharing three eggs, switching them around from under themselves.

I can't wait until my hen goes broody. I'll have to wait a while. The oldest is 6 months now and the others are only 9 weeks old.

lost my splash hen 2 days ago. sure do miss her.
I'm so sorry. Its very hard to lose them.

Here are our new Silkie babies from Kelar. They are the first Silkies we have ever hatched. They are so cute and fluffy! Im so glad my daughter begged me for them. <3

They're so cute. I was looking back at pictures of some of mine when they were this age. When you see them all grown up it's hard to believe they were ever that small.

How many chickens can fit in a pan of fermented feed?

Cute picture.

Two of my babies, a 4 month old silkie and Kota, our almost 4 year old Anatolian Shepherd. He's actually just hitting mental maturity for his breed. The silkies love him, they know they can get away with stealing his food and treats without retaliation. We were giving the dogs some boiled turkey yesterday (our tom was killed by a fox, but not eaten, we were able to salvage his meat) and the silkies were grabbing little pieces from between his paws! The only thing I don't like about this girl (besides her wings) is her rather 'flat' looking crest. It's got a ton of pins in it, however. so it may fill out more.
They're both so pretty. My white cockerel didn't begin getting his streamers until he was 5-6 months old so don't give up yet.

I bought a few Silkie chicks from a local breeder and I'm questioning if the colors she identified them as are correct. Here are pictures of them at 1, 3, & 4 weeks old and today at 8 weeks old. What do you think?

There's a group shot a little further down of all 3 at 4 weeks old.

The one you called paint is not paint. It is likely a grey (silver partridge). Chocolate is very rare to see in a silkie. You'll have to wait until it matures. It looks like a dark partridge.

The Paint does look like a Silver Partridge or Grey. Sometimes Paint breedings can produce some odd things. We just hatched 10 Paint eggs from a breeder and had two Partridge chicks in the mix.
