Silkie thread!

Here is my new silkie! Here are some better pictures of her color. What do y'all think she will be. I also got the one with the Fuzziest feet

I feel like the camera made her a bit darker than she really is but anyways! What is your guess

I would say light blue, silver gene white or splash. Possibly self-blue (lavender). Do you know the parents color?
I'm leaning girl.

Hi everyone. I have just started my flock of silkies this Spring. I am already so amazed at these little guys! I do have one that the color has everyone stumped. Each time I post a picture I get a different answer. It came from a mixed pen, Roo is white, hens are Partridge, white, black, grey, and a silver laced.
I know my little one shows partridge, but wondering if it is also showing silver laced?

You can see some striping showing in its upper wing.
I'd also say a grey/silver partridge.

Silkie Hatchers.....got a question. What humidity do you LD and keep your eggs at? I usually do not have a problem but the last couple I did. I had humidity around 45-50 ..temp 99..and the liquid inside the eggs got goey and the chicks died..one even zipped but was not able to pop out of the shell...on the others it seemed like the inside of the egg/chick dried out. I have always done mine like I mentioned above and don't know what changed. I am thinking the humidity should be higher...right?

Here are my new Porcelain chicks from Geri Godina's eggs! One didn't want his picture taken or he is being shy! I love them!!

Cute babies!

Mine are all growing up. My three six-week-olds have been integrated into the coop with no problem. It's a little sooner than I'd like because the coop chickens are over two months old for the most part and so big. But one of six-week-olds started flying out of the brooder. We were finding it all over the place. The brooder is in the garage and I don't want anyone to get run over or anything, so into the coop they went. Henrietta the lead hen gave them a couple of pecks, but ignored them the rest of the day as did everyone else. Professor Fluffles has taken up babysitting them most of the time, which is cute and funny because she's only eleven weeks old herself. Except they didn't follow her into the coop and I had to go put them in. That's ok because they have their own little separate area in there for now so that they don't end up smothered cuddling with juveniles twice their size.

Do you think it's ok to have a Bantum hen in with a Silkie Roo or is he to big?

Um... what size is your bantam? Silkies are bantams too. I have some Bantams that are about their size, a few smaller and a few larger. I also had a silkie hen in with a full size rooster - and when he would step on her and she flattened out he couldn't do anything - so he just walked off.

If she is at least half his size - he won't hurt her. You may find some odd looking chicks later down the road though....
