Silkie thread!

What is that behind him?
Earthborn Holistic pet food, I am a demo rep on weekends and I always bring one of my furry or feathered friends. The customers adore them! Icelynn my blue pullet is a seasoned pro, This was Snow's first visit and he did an awesome job. First time with the diaper too and he barely fell backwards at all LOL Probablybecause he is so chest heavy!

I'm now treating TWO with wry neck. One four-month old that I've been treating for 25 days already. A chick came down with it today at 3 wks. I'm soo frustrated. Treating with Vit B and Selenium. No polyvisol to be found anywhere.

Peter brown suggested using baby aspirin. I would ask him if I were you what he thinks. For those of us who can't get our hands on prednizone.

Have you tried Walmart for Polyvisol (no iron) drops. It's usually near baby products or ask at pharmacy. Even some grocery stores carry it but want a lot more $$$

Baby aspirin isn't any where near the same as prednisone - the later is a steroid and should be used on vet's advice only.

Also use some vit.E capsules - squeeze out a couple drops.

Everyone here is so nice thank you thank you! :)

Tomorrow I am going to look at a couple, it will be from the same lady I got my last one from she said she had gray, white, black, and partridge. Ranging from 2 days to a week old. I'm hoping the week olds will look healthy. I'm going to get 2 this time :D

Does anyone have a week old silkie picture I can use as a reference?
Or a partridge silkie chick picture?

Is there anything I should be specifically looking for behavior and size wise? I'm def not going to pick the smallest one this time around.

I did a followup visit with Thunderhead because his diarrhea isn't going away and he's been switched to injectable antibiotics. Baytril. The vet gave him a 50/50 chance. I'm holding out hope he'll make it because he went from fine on Sunday morning to me finding him laying down with his face in the dirt, to sitting up on his own and holding his head up to standing for a little bit today. He still has no interest in eating and I have to tube feed him 3-4 times a day, but I'm not going to give up on him. Although I have no clue what I'm going to do with him if he recovers because I've been told he'll be susceptible to bacterial infections for the rest of his life. I might just have a house chicken. I hope if he's really a cockerel that he doesn't crow too much or loudly enough for the neighbors to hear if windows are open. My silkies and cochins are housed at my parents' acreage with their chickens because we can't have chickens in town.

I have some bad news :(. All four of my blue silkies chicks are dead. One drownd while I was gone last week and the other three died today. My hen and her chicks got stuck in a box and she started to freak out I guess and trampled them. Only a silkie/silkie mix and my splash and 2 other chicks made it. I'm so sad right now. All of the blues were boys, too. On the bright side my show silkie that I had bought from a breeder laid her 1st egg for me today. I put it in the incubator to see if it was fertilized. The lady also saved me her best show rooster b/c she sold the rest of her white silkies. So I can have a breeding pair.

I have 4 Silkie chicks that are 8 weeks old. Can anyone possibly tell me their colors and gender. I know gender is a far out stretch, but their colors are so funky. They are out of a Blue Splash Roo, and White Hen. Thanks.
