Silkie thread!

lol-must be the pic. He's normal size. Bigger than my white roo was. Weighs more. Thanks for the compliment!
Must have been the high angle of the picture then that made him look so teeny. He's beautiful!

Those of you that use Nu-Stock for scaley leg mites, is it this paste or is there a different product for leg mites?

Someone came by and donated a bunch of things for the farm and I found 3 tubes of this stuff. lol

I'll put some aside if this is what works for scaley leg mites incase we ever end up with a chicken with leg mites.

That is the only NuStock I know of. I used it for scaly mites on an old rooster I have. I also have used it on my back where I have an itchy spot from an old tick bite - when it itches I put that stuff on ME and it works! Its sulfur, pine oil and mineral oil. I think you can used it on dogs that have hot spots too. If you have large animals I would keep all of them - it can be hard to find - and it was 15 for the only tube I could find. Some people put it in a tub they can get into - those tubes will crack with age and the stuff will dry out and be hard to get out of the tube, and it can also leak.

Oh good! Then I will put all of it somewhere safe, where I can find it when I need it. lol I think I'll also try this stuff on our mini cow Simca. She gets these hot spots on her legs every summer. I know nothing about cows and what causes it but it happens every year. Maybe Nu-Stock will work better than what we've been using so far.

I am curious about the sex of my chick. Its around 3 months old. I have little experience and would like to get some more experienced opinions. When I free range, it wonders off alone, alot. And seems to stand taller, like my grown roo. My guess was a boy. Thanks for any help!

Hoping Sonoran and the silkies are staying cool down in AZ! Record high temps, stay safe!
Last night at 8 pm it was still 110; I never did see how hot we got. I will say that my neighborhood is cooler than the surrounding areas. On my way home as soon as I turned into the neighborhood the car immediately dropped from the 110 it was registering. Lots of tall trees and huge lots with a lot of vegetation.

Misters are on most of the birds; fans on others; a lot are inside or in the garage (which has the evap cooler running). We woke up to the house as warm as outside. I was amazed how little time it took to get the guy to come out and fix it. I'd expected that we would be waiting in a LONG line and that he might make it out here by late afternoon if we were lucky. Instead he was here by 10 and it was fixed by 11.
