So im new to the silkie breed and i was wondering how long it takes silkies to grow into their tiny little bodies? Does it take longer or shorter than the average 6 months?

I dont know if this is a dumb question but I have seen many pics of silkies and I love how you can only see their beaks when they are fluffy but some you can see their whole face..... can anyone tell me why this is?

Some are fluffier than others =) Also there are bearded and non-bearded varieties, usually the bearded you can't see the face and the non bearded you can because they lack the beard and muffs.

Can also depend on how dirty they are LOL

I am getting two baby silkies sometime this week and can't wait! I am wanting them to be fluffy. The lady said the have super fluffy bloodlines

Love the new rooster! Perty! :) Someone attempted to steal my chickens last year. Our dogs raised a ruckus and my husband caught them in the act. They were some teenagers. They ran off and left behind a suitcase on wheels. We opened it up and low and behold, my fearless rooster piled on top of the hens, scared to death! After that he didn't crow for 3 days. His manhood had been defamed :) This is the roo:

I now padlock the coop every night :( Sorry to hear they got away with your birds.
After my husband called me to say that 19 of my chickens (various breeds and nearly all of them 4 months old or younger) had been stolen, I immediately set out on my quest to find a newt Silkie roo (I was out of town). After some help from my daughter in another state, I got the phone # of the lady who had sold me my last one. I had a choice between a painted and this Calico. I don't show and I loved his color (yes I have been told it is not a ecognized color...but for my purposes, he is wonderful!) S000....here is a pic of my new guy:

Hi all. I just love to see everyone's pics and read all the great info here. I have a question. I just got 4 silkies. 2 roos, 1 hen and 1 chick. Are they naturally more calm and less active? I have other large chickens and they seem to be much more active. Thank you for any info.
