Quote: They all look splash to me, except possibly the last one--is it a solid white, or does it have some colour on its back? porcelains often do not have striped backs.
pine STRAW?I've decided to use pine straw as my bedding, I heard it's good and best of all it's FREE! lol

Sunburned feathers cannot be corrected....you have to wait for a molt. Shampoo for white dogs or horses (or old ladies) can help a little, but will not completely correct sunburned feathers. For stains, try using tide with bleach alternative or a horse green stain remover. Probiotics and grains will help solidify poop.Hi all. I bathed my first chickens today. I lived and so did my Silkies! Ok, now to my problem. I've had these little cuties for about a week and they have brown stains on their vents and yellow on their feathers, looks like from the sun. I am wanting to start showing them this fall. My question is, what can I use to get rid of this yellow and the brown stain on the vents? Also my little hens have some really watery poop. What is good to stop that? How often should I bathe then while working on these stains so I won't damage their feathers? I used to groom and show dogs on a professional basis but this is a whole different ball game!! Help?!!
Paint is not a recognized varity. The recognized varieties are white, black, blue, splash, grey, buff, partridge and self-blue. Any time you start mixing, you will end up wth a mish mash of genes unless you know what you are doing. What is your ultimate goal?I am planning on getting a flock of silkies, with one of every standard color: black, white, blue, splash, paint, partridge, and buff. If I were to choose one if them to be a rooster which color should it be? ( my goal is to get adorable multicolored chicks with a huge variety of colors) so which color rooster will offset each hens' color best? Cuz I dont want to get a rooster and then have all of its offspring look the same.... Thanks
