Show ye, but you can only win with recognized breeds and their recognized varieties.  Showmanship is a different matter, and a bird need not be a purebred or recognized breed or variety...but you should to know a lot about that specific bird and why/how it differs from the standard, as well as all the regular chicken knowledge.

I have a question- I put my silkies (9 wks wks old now) outside a week or so ago. I've noticed their feet are getting and have been wet the past few days. Do you guys put anything special in their run to help keep their feet dry or is there some other set up you've made to get them up off the ground?

Sand in their run drains well drys fast.

Well little Mumsy is getting use to drinking out of the dropper. She does have a hurt leg she is favoring it pecking it a little and hobbling around. I hope she heals ok. I should have never tried to give her to the hens that soon she's just to far behind her siblings she got steeped on by a hen. even tho I was right there watching it just happened to quick. She did one poop yesterday so she is eating enough to make a poo. I saw her take one drink on her own but don't think she really got the hang of it yet so I continue to give her the dropper.

However, unless the bearded contenders are not particularly good, non-bearded birds rarely place over them. Let's assume that some of the varieties are represented by a less than stellar bird. The judge does not have to award BV or 1s, and I have seen that happen on more than one occasion with more than one judge. So, of the 14 recognized varieties, let's assume that only 5 have BV awards, and that your bird takes BV for non-bearded whites. He will compete against the other BVs for BB, and if he does not take Best of Breed, he will compete against that variety's RV and all the remaining BVs for Reserve of Breed.

If he is in great condition and showing off, then he may well take RV, but if he is going into a molt (or just coming out of one), or is sleepy and laying down and ignoring the judge, he may not do as well. But, like I said earlier, it depends on the specific competition and details that I can't see in a small photo that might be very obvious when going over a bird in my hand.
