Silkie thread!

They won't sit on the eggs till they are done laying there clutch usually about 12 to 14 for my girls you can leave them I did my first time or take them each day and hand turn them at least three times a day and give them back after she lays around ten just my thought on it I breed them but I also have two incubators now and 4 hens on eggs they do all the work so its easier lol

#1 looks like a cockerel, #2 like a pullet, but no guarantees.  Watch behavior, check spacing between pubic bones and keep your fingers crossed for what you want.  #1 is non-bearded, #2 bearded.  Take a look at the offered cockerel to assess how it compares quality-wise.

Thanks ill check out the offered bird. I would like a good quality mating pair. I have notice some croaky noises coming from my Silkie. I seem to have a couple of Roos now if this one turns out to be a cockerel, I have a Welsummer Roo (&2 gals) and a Silkie mix Roo. He is kind of interesting but has white skin despite his 5 toes. The problem is the little partridge girl is special needs and nestles up with him on a regular basis, she would be lost without him.

I dont think so at this point given that none of her other feathers are comming out. Just her head. I just noticed some new scabbs on her head. Scratching maybe? At what im not sure, ive treated with every mite treatment available and nothing so if this is the case how do i stop the scratching??? any one have a plastic head cone for a chicken? LOL like the ones for dogs and cats.
I can see what looks like the feather shaft setting on skin level. Im not sure what they look like scratched vs fallen out.
If any one has any insight on the looms of the feather folicles id like to know. I guess i could just go ripp some out of my roo, hes got plenty on his head :hmm hes right next door so if it were a contagious thing id think hed have it by now. (And before any one says, no the roo can not reach the hen at all to pluck featjer through a fence. There is space)

I saw some place were someone had made one of those out of a small bathroom cup. I don't know if it worked or not.

Thank you, she didn't pay much attention to them yesterday, but she wouldn't leave the coop either, so I will wait and see. My roo is just now starting to mount the hens, so I'm not even sure these are fertile lol.
