Silkie thread!

I have a question.  


I have a silkie who has gone broody for her first time, she has been sitting on eggs for over a week now. I have a Tolbunt chick that is a sole hatch out on Friday. The poor little thing is alone in a small brooder box with a wool sox for a Mama and a mirror for a companion. Would it be taking too big of a chance to move the silkie in and set her up alone in my ward with the single chick. I know everything is up to chance but what is the likelihood that she would take it as her chick to raise?

My Cochin bantam hen was broody for a full day and I had chicks that had just started to hatch and I popped them right under her and she raised them just fine. I would do it at night though. They tend to be calmer.

She is so cute. Love her color. Mine are like little mud balls right now with all the rain we have been getting. I gave them a bath a few weeks ago. Not sure how often I should do it and not strip their oils. Plus I will wait until it dries out a bit so they don't get all dirty again right away.

no I see the nucleus but not the tell-tale bullseye you should see when it is fertile.

Darn... I was really hoping ichabod would do the deed.. I've had him for a few months. Luckily I've got a yound roo who could do it in a few months lol

I was worried if she stays wet and it freezes overnight that she would be too cold so I keep her as dry as possible. It's the first time I've actually shampooed her though. Just her head, with a tiny pinch of shampoo. She looks brand new!
She's such a cute little thing, she was talking away whilst in the bath.

North Georgia here and every thing is a cold muddy mess. All this rain is driving me crazy. My nice clean coops are awful now and I can't keep the shavings dry. I put a inverted 4x4 plastic pallet in my bantam coop so the Silkies would have a dry place to sleep. They and the d'Uccle both look like they have been making mud pies. It's just awful.
