Silkie thread!

That is what I had heard also so I was expecting a slightly early hatch but all my Silkies for that hatch hatched Jan 1st-3rd(day21-23). Maybe it is because they were shipped Im not sure.

My Japanese Bantams hatch typically on the 20th and 21st day. Ive only gotten day19 hatchers from under a broody.
I would think that when using an incubator - that any temperature inaccuracies would make a difference. Mine was running cool and I would get late hatches 22-23 days. In that same incubator - I once had a youngster hatch before I moved them to the hatcher - day 19. Go figure. A broody would be able to give the eggs ideal conditions temp-wise.

It's a partridge more than likely. It doesn't seem like there are any silkie feathers coming in.
She was 2 days old in the picture, if that helps.

I was noticing that also. But since there is only silkie/showgirls in that pen. Figured she would still grow into them.

But I also have a separate frizzle hen with a silkie roo. Could have mixed up the egg when gathering. But wouldn't they produce either silkie or frizzle feathers?

It takes about a week or so for the frizzle/ sizzle feathers to show.

On another note my silkie has hatched this am. It's sitting in the egg with its lid off.

Pam it looks to be blue.

My favorite chick that I hatched in the house Penelope I'm worried might be a boy. I HOPE NOT! Fingers crossed for both of us. :fl
I saw her/him calling other over the food this morning, I know girls can do that sometimes too but I don't think its a good sign.
