Silkie thread!

Code:
I keep reading about the silkies and its making me more and more anxious to get my chicks. how loud are the roosters? we have neighbors so we cant have overly loud roos.
also does anyone have experience showing silkies? either 4-H or something else? we are getting hatchery birds but would that mean they couldnt be shown?

I LOVE my silkies, but three possibly four are boys. They are beautiful and loud. Not as loud as the buff orpington formerly known as Dorothy, but loud none the less. I am going to have to sell our tortoise, splash and little boy blue or trade for girls. They are different then "normal" roosters in so many ways though. Totally non aggressive and calm, still love to be picked up and smooched, and enjoy a good movie on your lap without any interruptions.

So I just  in to check on the silkies and Snow and her eggs. She must have shifted her weight because she knocked two eggs out from under her. I noticed her nest was pushed to a slant so they may have rolled out. I took her off and readjusted the nest, put her back on, and waited a bit since they were very cold to candle them and see if they made it or not. They were moving! I figured since they were cold, and they are in a cooler room so they were pretty chilly, that there was no way they were okay. Has anyone else experienced this? Every one freaks out with incubators about temp and humidity and it seems like they are tougher than we give them credit for.

I had some under a Marans a couple months ago when it was freezing out. She "got lost" twice going back to her nest. Lol Both times I found cold eggs and put her back. Eggs hatched thank goodness. You should be fine!

X2   I have heard very good things about her Silkies :)

I have smooth sizzles and sizzles from her. Gorgeous! Well worth the whole day of driving to get them. She's 3-4 hours from me. Country is her BYC name. My smooth sizzle roo from her is my fav out of our whole flock of 50+. Super fluffy and sweet.

My daughter and her blue silkie frizzle, Not Peep, playing a game on her kindle... my daughter's kindle not the chicken's lol. She always names one of her chickens Peep and gets a boy, it gets eaten by something etc. Not Peep broke the mold, she's the pampered one who got wry neck and the vitamin deficiency seems to have kept her the runt of the flock. If she lays eggs ever they will never be hatched because of the vitamin gene issue but no matter what she's got a great life chillin' with her peep.

That is adorable! I love her!! Now I want one more than ever!!

Here are two of my sizzles/frizzles (I don't know the difference) silks I hatched on new years! 2 weeks 1 day today!

I didn't find out until the first week I had 2 frizzle/sizzles out of my 3 silkies hatched! I lOVE them to bits! one may be a hen, but the white one is a rooster for sure....his comb is already getting bigger! he is SUPER HEAVY TOO!

This is Squidgy. My little brother named him after a show called "Justin Time". He is the one we think is a rooster....he stands very tall, and is super heavy for 2 weeks. his comb is also rather big.
White frizzle/sizzle

This is Timothy. We think she may be a hen, but I have no idea! I named her Timothy after an inside joke with my sister @chickED when we told my brother my name was no longer Ashley, but timothy......Ever since then I have adored the name timothy.....I just knew my favorite chick HAD to be named that no matter it's gender!
partridge sizzle/frizzle

Whats the different between a sizzle silke and a frizzle silke?
