Silkie thread!

Hi all!! Very excited to have had some silkie chicks hatch again. We were expecting all black as the dad is black and mum was white (we lost her, hence incubating her eggs last minute!)

However...

We got all partridges!! (I think). I know 2x are...

And thought the others were, but now they've fluffed up there is no gold, it's a grey/silver instead.

So my question is are the silver partridges (which means they're from my white hen) or...

Splash? I have a lavender silkie hen also, not sure if it works in the same way as a blue?

Ok, this might sound weird - but would a mama hen get depressed if I took her chicks from her when they are 3 - 4 weeks old? They are getting pretty independent and she's starting to leave them more, but if she hears them chirp she still comes running. At what point will she just ignore them as "one of the flock"? I know they aren't going to fit into my breeding program (due to colors), and I have someone who may be interested in buying them, but I don't want my favorite hen to get depressed or anything.

I know that the bottom one is a partridge, I just love her cute face so I posted her, but the top white one with stripes, what is that chick going to look like? I don't know if I've ever seen a little partridge like that.

So one more round of pics. I went into the pitch black den and snapped some pics. It was pretty funny when I looked at the results. The sleep habits of a momma and 5 chicks. At 3 weeks old they are getting a little big for sleeping under her. And what I am calling The Croods.. If you have seen it, you know what a family sleep pile is.

They are soooo cute!! I love the "family pile"!!
