Thank you all for the advice about "Wry Neck". The chick was actually worse this morning but seems slightly better now. She is not eating well and I hav t dip her beak t get her t drink. She's tolerating the vitamin therapy fairly well though. She's very vocal when she's awake. I think I've spoiled her, she is always wanting held! Lol

you can feed her boiled egg yolk to help give her a boost. It has helped a weak chick I had.

I hav a BIG problem....HELP!!! Please!!!! What is wrong with this baby??? Is there ANYTHING I can do to help her???
This is a straight on shot. Her head is literally turned nearly upside down! She's stumbling everywhere!!! She's only 17 hrs old, I've bn giving her vitamins in her water and even let her hav some straight from th eye dropper. She can't eat unless she's held and the food is softened with th vitamin water. I had 8 Silkie eggs only 4 hatched, two hav already died she's #3... I don't want t lose another one... Please help.

I treated mine for almos 2 weeks and that seemed like forever. Separate her from the flock but try to keep them in visual range or add a buddy. I feed her Vit E oil, baby aspirin, and selinium. You can get these at any pharmacy. I used a eye dropper to mix it in a small ramikin and then fed her it mixed in her wet feed. You will have to find a neck brace small enough or her. I used a wrist sweat band but mine was prob a bit bigger. I also tried a toilet paper roll. Idk how big she is but you'll manage. It's hard work but when she's hungry, she'll chomp that medicated food right out of your hand. Have patience and good luck. Oh also mine was about 4-5 weeks old so I used have an aspirin, one whole eye dropper of Vit E oil, and half a selinium.

Hi- you should add Selenium to the Vit. E.  The Vit E. is needed to absorb the Selenium.  Being a chick, I would add only a tiny amount.  They usually come in a dry tablet.  You can scrape off the amount.  I have heard that Tractor Supply has some liquid (for goats) that is Vit E and Selnium both.  Best to search for the correct dose.  I've had 2 with this condition.  One (older one) had it for 4 months, and I put him to sleep, because he couldn't be cured even for a week, even with Vet medicine.  The chick I had was better in a week, but she recently relapsed when she was stressed getting ready for a show.  She is better now, but when they are stressed, they can show it again as an adult.  Wry neck is common with Silkies (and the say Polish).  It comes from various causes.  Some say hereditary, some say lacking certain vitamins (I don't think so, with tiny chicks.  You'd think they would cover the vitamins in chick starter).  Some say peck on the head.  The first one that I had came from a pretty famous breeder that has many happy customers, so I don't think that it was hereditary.   Good luck with your chick.  I'm pulling for you!     _Pam

My polish chick has this problem right now have never seen it either. Mine is 3 weeks old. She eat fine and drinks and grows. I have been trying to find out whats wrong with her.

I would say no, there should be a distinct gap in the feathers. With split wing it should be very obvious when the chicken is standing, the wing doesn't fold into the body correctly.

You're welcome You can also get her to drink more by giving it a little with a dropper at the corner of her mouth. The same with the food. Sometimes, I fed her baby food.

I forgot about the baby aspirin.. my roo loved the orange flavor- and he ate the other stuff mixed with it. I had a male and a female with it. That's why I keep flip flopping between "he" and "she".

For being just over 36 hrs old this little one has bn through H---! She's still strong and fiesty so as long as she's trying and doesn't give up I won't either. Only one person on here has mentioned using a neck brace of some kind. Does anyone know if this helps or would it strangle her? ( I hope it's a her anyway). She's th teensiest thing I've ever seen. Her head and body fit in a Teaspoon!!!
Because of her condition my Granddaughter has named her Crookie. Lol what a tag for the poor baby!!!
