Silkie thread!

When did you stop needing one?

Well my two batches of chicks were 8 weeks old. But I just got a new batch of three silkies and decided to purchase an Ecoglow. I love it so much more!

You have GOT to post this on the BYC coops thread! It is wonderful that the Silkies have all that room! Just a heads up on the coop thread - most everybody on there doesn't like 1" chicken poultry wire and always suggest hard-wire against predators so be prepared for those comments. Otherwise I know it will be one of the nicer coops to be posted lately.
i agree it is a very nice coop and run. i have some pics of my almost free redneck hand built coop and run posted in the coop thread

My chick had the same problem. Give her some Gatorade. Make her a nice brooder area with aspen or pine shavings. Then give her fresh food and water. Is her nose running? What feed are you giving her?

No their is no nose running problem feed is mostly millet but sometimes i also gives onion and garlic , what is gatorade and how to give?

That looks pretty cool. How do they continue using it as they grow? Does it lift higher? I noticed they look to be pricey everywhere. If I were planning to have more chicks in the future i'd probably invest in one, but these babies are likely going to be my only ones. If I let them breed, ill leave them with mom to keep warm :)

Yes it lifts as they get older. They can be pricy but worth it instead of having a heat lamp on 24/7 for 8 weeks. Plus, you don't have to worry about a fire.

where are you located? Onion and garlic is a no no. Even though millet is a grain I would switch her to chick feed.

A few nights ago I was able to catch our 9 to 10 week old Silkie named Monte (a rooster we think) learning how to crow.
The sound you'll hear directly after the first one is our dog Saddie reacting and me trying to suppress laughter!
