Silkie thread!

Lots of awesome new white showgirls and silkies

These are so cute! Congrats!
I give up. My blue baby I made booties for and was trying everything I could think of to save, died this morning :( Its just so discouraging when ive lost three babies now in less then a week.
I am sorry for your loss.

It sounds like you did everything in your power to take care of them. Many people would not have gone that far in trying to treat them and would have just culled. Give yourself some credit for at least trying.

These two are so cute together! They look bright white too, not sure how you can keep them that clean looking but you must be doing a good job!
Love my cuckoo silkies and blue partridge showgirl & silkie

They almost look like they are following the leader! So cute!!
Im thinking its the breeder I got them from :( Her set up was not very impressive. Chicks and incubators were crowded in a tiny garage and it smelt horrible. The babies looked beautiful on their hatch date when I picked them up so I ignored it and bought them anyway but ive lost three now, and when I went back to get another it still looked horrible and she pulled two more dead babies out of her box. I was desperate for another so I got another anyway but picked the largest healthy looking one with bright eyes and full belly. That chick is still doing just fine so far. She did try to sell me an obviously ill chick while I was there. It was the last black one left and I wanted it so bad cause I was looking for another black and I hoped she'd just let me have it but instead she offered to knock off a few bucks but still wanted five bucks for it. I chose not to because it looked just like the one I lost and I knew it was going to die. She insisted it was fine but it clearly wasent. I knew she was all about profit after that. I have done everything I could think of for these chicks and they still come down ill. I am just praying no more get sick.
This sounds awful! How awkward it would be to have someone trying to sell you a sick chick. Wish people didn't just do this for the money and did it cause they love animals and want to share the love with others by selling.

Miss Kitty - love the name!
This is my broody girl Darla sitting on some eggies:]
And one of the babies from her previous clutch being silly with the camera:}
LOL Your broody looks quite determined! Love the little fluffy tail sticking upright.

The only problem would be if the you put the 4 eggs under a hen with eggs 4 days older, when they hatch first the mother will most likely not sit on the nest for a couple more days so I would try to squeeze 10 eggs under the bigger hen if possible and the 4 new ones under the other hen.
Oh I see...that makes sense....thank you!:D I'll do that:]

I had bought a bunch of polish chicks several years ago and one by one they just died off. They would be fine then get sleepy, lethargic and in with in 24 hours it would be dead. I lost one to three a day till they where all gone. I bought one that was a little older than the rest and it lasted the longest. It would stay up on the perch and sleep then get down to eat and drink then take what seemed like a painful poop and back up on the perch. I found it one morning on the brooder floor dead. I have no idea what the problem was. Poops looked normal and they appeared to be healthy but apparently where not. The breeder offered to replace them but I declined and just accepted the $$ loss.

I assume that with the over crowding I seen in all his pens and in the trought he had all his chicks in and his sick birds where just across from the chicks in a stall in the barn. As well as seeing several kittens that where obviously seriously inbred dut to their deformities. I should have not bought anything from him but I did and at least I didn't loose any of my chicks.

I've had the same problem with Polish. None that I bred myself. But a lot that I got from a certain breeder (bought a lot at one time). Later, someone said that hers are very inbred from many generations, and that maybe that was why they were not strong.

That's why I've went with birds from several different sources in all my bird my silkies I hatched two eggs from a breeder and got 3 from tsc my Polish I bought hatching eggs from 3 different sources and kept the strongest looking chicks I hope by august to have all my breeding pens up and running its hard to find decent silkie and polish breeders in north east arkansas

A sound is produce in her breathing :( and she sneezes :( i am so worried about her

There are several infectious diseases that produce ' rattling ' in the chest and runny noses. I'm not sure what you have available to you in Italy . Tylan is readily available in the states but not her in Australia . Erythromycin or doxycycline are gram positive antibiotics that will target upper respiratory infection.
Coryza and mycoplasma are ones that you could research.
Please feel free to PM me. :)
