Good luck! Let me know what you get. Im excited to see! You would be the first person I have sold eggs to that hasn't lost power and all or most of their eggs. Dont ask me why, its kinda creepy, but Im so happy your incubation went well without loss of power!

I aways have mine secured with screws, using clamp or not. If I use the clamp I have screws through the triangle for security. I have even hung 1 from the raffter in my building using the hanning hoop on the lamp.

I'm scared to death of those lamps and we raised our chicks up with two 60w incandescents (in case one burned out in the middle of the night), but they're older now, out in the coop and the next couple nights it's supposed to get down to 33°.
I finally found a 125w infrared and I sunk two screws, one in both sides of a roof beam and hopefully I'll be able to rest assured no harm will come.
I've got a wireless thermometer in there to monitor the temp.
Out of curiosity do these IR bulbs ever just shatter on their own?

The ceramic bulbs are more reliable but I prefer the infra red bulbs myself. I have my brooder in the laundry and every time I walk through the house I can see from a distance that the lamp is on. The infra red also has the added benefit that when you check on the babies during the night you don't have to turn on the overhead lights. Kinda like a night light for human babies.
I have had them blow on me , but I've never had one shatter. It's always a good thing to have a spare .

For all I know the kids might be able to endure a 33° night without a lamp, but at 10-1/2 weeks I wasn't sure.
We've gotten everyone through to this point and I'd hate to let them down now.

If my conversion chart is right 33 f is only 0-1 c. That's pretty cold. 250w will cook them and if you keep them too warm it retards their feather growth. There is safety in numbers, body heat and your 125 w globe ( raised ) is ample.

They are my summer time project. There's no telling what color I will get. She is white, both of her parents are white, but one of the boys I got from your place will be the daddy. They are both blue, but didn't you say they have partridge in them some where down the line. I'll be sure and keep you posted on what I get.

I was thinking 125w was good enough.
