haha!! wylkies!! that's a classic!!I don't know what large brown hens you mean, but I have a couple of Silkie x Wyandotte (LF ) I call them wylkies. My silkies have hatched and reared Sussex, barnevelder and Wyandotte , all large fowl.

My guess is Roo..Ive only had them for about a year but had 16:2 roos to hens last year so got to stare at a lot of roos growing up..Roos have these tiny hard feathers that will show up on their heads. and their head feathers tend to point towards their rears while hens stick straight up.. I am sure that there will be more experienced people weigh in though, thats just my opinion--(of course for the first few months with my guys I was convinced I had about 50/50..lol..
They are gorgeous!! I am surprised that it hasnt caught on..lol..that last girl is beautiful..she reminds me very much of my splash girl that I lost earlier this spring
i want to get those brown large chickens. I dont know hat they are called. Would a silkie be able to mate with one of those brown hgens.would a silkie sit on the eggs for the hen if she doesnt go broody?
