Silkie thread!

Its day 19 and someone is hatching! This is the earliest I have ever had them start hatching. Momma must have been extra warm! They usually hatch after day 21.

I let my broodies hatch a few mixed silkie colors. This buff colored mix caught my eye. Any thoughts on how my buff silkie with the chipmunk/partridge striping may turn out? I don't know the full extent of the genetics behind my birds, but the father is white and I assume the mother is a buff.

Hi I have noticed this redness on my six month old silkie jap bantam cross. Is this a sickness or is her comb just turning red and that means that she is going to lay.

She looks healthy to me, and yep, 6 months would be about the time you would start to see red in comb. What a sweet face.

Reddening of the comb and waddles occurs when they are getting ready to lay. e eggs!
