Silkie thread!

So, I bought 5 Silkie chicks on Saturday, and with my usual high intelligence, I forgot to ask how old they were. They appear to be about standard size, and they are growing feathers. I would post pictures, but we are in the middle of a huge rainstorm, and so I don't want to walk all the way up the hill to photograph them. I must say, however, that these guys are my favorite chicks ever.

yesterday i was outside working in the yard and heard a godawefull noise that i thought something had gotten in the coop i went over and checked on my chickens they were ok but i found an egg in the nestbox i was soo relived i guess that was their egg song

Lol, it's not the sweetest of sounds. One of my hens makes such a ruckus when she's laid an egg that she starts a ' chain reaction ' . Even the roosters (all 15 of them ) join in. When people tell me they don't like roosters cause they are too noisy, I tell them that the noisiest chook I own is a hen.

So I have about 35 fertilized eggs. Most silkies some are americonas. My question is I recently found out that one of my silkie eggs has two babies in it!!! I found out that two chicks can be born with one egg but it's very rare. Question is had any of you experienced this and if so did you have any problems with the chicks? Birth defects?

It's really up to you, but I would personally discard the egg. These things generally don't end well.
As a rule , I don't set double yolkers. On the bright side , you do have 34 others :)

I'm so sorry if I already posted this picture but I just love my babies and want to share them with the world lol! Smidge Smeagol and Stella Rosa :)

Thank you:) lol he just came out of his tiny egg and I said aww it's a little Smidge and it just stuck:) love the name Smudge too:) I received my showgirl egg from a breeder in Santa Clarita Ca and Smidge the grey one is from my chickens, I usually hatch out chicks that turn into Blue grey chickens but he has a lighter creamier tone to him so who knows what he may actually turn out to be:)
