Showing off one of my new babies :)

Viqui: I really don’t think I’ve ever had a rooster take care of babies before. But I guess I never gave them the chance either! LOL We had several silkies in a barn along with a few Old English. It was during the cold season, early fall. This was at my XH’s place when this happened. He went outside to their barn one night to close them up, check their water, check the heat bulb etc. He came back in saying he thought he heard a baby chick in there. Well that was impossible and I wasn’t concerned about it. The next night! Same thing! The third night! Same thing! I had enough of this and said lets go check it out. Well we searched and looked and couldn’t find anything in a baby way! Now mind you the floor had a bale of hay covering it too! So the fourth night here he comes carrying a baby Old English chick, just a few days old. Good Lord! I immediately named it “Scrapper!” If that little chick could survive all those adult chickens? It was a true Scrapper!

Mystonegarden: Our Cochin hen was a sweetie to. She was in the top crate of three in our dining room corner. The other two let her do all the screeching when they saw me come out of the bedroom to go outside!

Cynthia: As for your silkies nose injury! I always use baby desitine on my injured babies. Other chickens aren’t too happy about pecking it. However! Long story short! Liquid B12 was told to be a miracle worker on sores too!

Emvickory: I’m so sorry about your momma hen. That crook neck is a horrible thing to see happen to our chickens. I always used the Vitamin E gel caps and pocked it down their throats. I’d be trying to get away from you too if that nasty stuff was going to be squirted in my mouth!

There is some good info being given on this Thread though. Good luck with her!

Suzierd: LOL I bet I could get you a picture if you really wanted one? So the question is now? Did you check the butt and the leg feathers?

Suzierd: They were her house chickens I believe. But stay in a pen at night. The storyline is sort of gray! I think they were taken out of the pen. She’s grieving and I’m sure we’ll get more of the story later on.

Suzierd: Now I understand the size difference!

Ozark: That Poly-Vi-Sol is some nasty smelling stuff! SEE EmVickory! I told you there is some good info on here!

Fancy: Well I’ve used antibiotic eye drops on a zit or two, but never in an ear! I have medicated ear drops from my doctor that I started using on Dorothy. Then the VET gave her some more. She’s getting the inflammatory med from the meloxicam I give her. She injured her leg last year and I gave her that. She was limping all over the place and then after taking the meloxicam for awhile, she quit limping! She isn’t star gazing so much. She’s trying more to tuck her sore ear underneath her body for comfort.

My 3 lonely silkies in a mess of 18. I had hoped for a couple more but they were short when I went to get them. I'll see how these little ones do and if they stay mixed well maybe add in a couple different colors

About a week:

The grayish one

The twins

Any idea what color this little one is? I call it the gray bird (they are about 3 weeks now)

And the twins
