Poultry Protector is expensive. We follow the directions about where to spot spray the hens on their skin. When it comes to the coop we only spray all the crevices of the nestboxes, corners, and joints where the creepy crawlies like to hide. That way we aren't wasting so much spray on open flat areas - only in the cracks/crevices/corners/wall joints/perch. I like that there will be no dust residue for the chickens to stir up into the air they breathe when they go into their nestboxes.

Poultry Protector goes up at least $1 every time I go into the feed store. The company better be careful about raising their prices so significantly or they'll price themselves right out of existence. As anti-poison as I am in the yard, even I won't fall for that price tactic. For now I am using it but if it gets too pricey I will look for something else.

Anyone on this thread use anything non-poison for their lice/mite maintenance? I've seen videos on Eucalyptus solutions and Vinegar solutions but those entail complete washdown of the coops and take so long to dry. My girls want to lay their eggs NOW and not when the coop dries out. Some suggest Dawn to treat/wash the chickens but I find my gentle baby shampoo does the same job plus I like that it doesn't sting the eyes if my girls flap or splash the water around as chickens can do for no reason.

Poultry Protector is good but just wish there was another company out there to keep the prices down. If anyone has solutions I'd love to hear them - whoa! did I just open up an opinion session? LOL

You guys are cracking me up lol, they are different colored for me so it will be interesting to see what they feather out yo be. Everybody's chicks are so cute!

We noticed tonight that one of our silkie chicks feathers are coming in turned upward. I'm wondering if she is a sizzle? I know there were sizzles in previous generations, but the two parents are both silkies... So is that even possible?
