Yes, I was talking about something totally different. Sorry for the confusion, but I was talking about something I read about earlier in this thread.Sub:
I tried to quote you earlier on this, but the quotes were coming up with computer lingo! I have to go to preview and then convert to rich text in order to do the quotes now! Weird - huh?
You are so correct on it NOT being what I was talking about! LOL Butt feathers aren't telling me anything! I believe she got the jest of it though and has already checked.
TC
I've really only done that on new hatchlings! Can't remember doing it on older ones! It wouldn't hurt to check though! You'll know for sure if you check older known sexes now, wouldn't you?
My husband says the split is needed for the Roosters "Thang" to have room to come out and do his business!![]()

I provide ladders and lower perches for my silkies. Even a length of 4 x 2 inch pine , turned on its side will give them an opportunity to get off the ground. It's mostly a predator thing but perching also gives them an opportunity to settle their feathers down over their feet to help stay warm in the winter. Piling one on top of the other can also be fatal for the one at the bottom of the pile. Sleeping close to the ground also leaves your chooks more susceptible to upper respiratory issues.
lol, you're the one asking TC what gender they are, lol. I thought you would be posting it hahahahaYes, I was talking about something totally different. Sorry for the confusion, but I was talking about something I read about earlier in this thread.
Do you really want me to take a pic of my Silkie's butt?
Oh my Lord! I'm going back to cooking supper!lol, you're the one asking TC what gender they are, lol. I thought you would be posting it hahahaha
I believe it was on the show I mentioned earlier they said to look for the grain of rice. That was a rooster! I'm not going searching though. Don't want to hurt any of my babies.Roosters do not have a "THANG"...nope. They do not. This is a true fact. That's why a lot of breeders that are serious, or just owners that are serious about breeding real fluffy but girls, trim their behinds, so that the rooster can get right up against the hen. Roos have a very small bump..well then, I guess you can call that a thang. It just doesn't grow and come out. Hope that's ok to say.![]()
Yay, what colour are they ?
