It takes time, but it can be done. It is a lot of moistening the membrane and waiting for the veins to retract, then chipping away and waiting...etc. As long as the chick is breathing, and you can be patient by not taking to much shell at a time, I think you will be okay. Mine was under a broody, so I think being able to recoup after the hatch under her helped it thrive. Good luck.
