Silkie thread!

Well Dolly isnt better. Still has dilated pupils and cant see. 2 vets are at a loss other than head trauma. Have any of you heard of a silkie recovering from that? I have to make sure she eats. She is either still broody or just laying around because she cant see, but she only poops once a day like a broody and its relatively normal just a lot of it. Sort of darker than normal with the white stuff. She had a little blood in it yesterday. Could coccid cause pupil dilation? Im at a loss.

Could be since blood is in poop

Icc =1ml , un diluted in the beak for every 3 lb, so a couple of drops for the chick. If you have them on medicated feed change the ones suffering to un medicated crumble. Hope we can get little Jed straightened out.

Ok thank you so much!! I just have a few more questions. Lol sorry for so many questions! So if the baby doesn't have wryneck ( but positive it does ) it won't hurt the baby to have it? And what does un dilated in the beak mean? Ok I think that's all the questions! :D

I saw Jed eating today. Like pecking around here and there. Didn't see him/her drink but I left Jed be because he was eating by himself so he should've drank. But in the morning if I don't see him/her drinking I will make sure he/she does. I clean their cage twice a day with fresh paper towels so I'm in with them alot. So I'll be checkin on Jed quite a bit.

Un diluted, straight . Don't add water. No the nutri- drench won't hurt the chick.
Add it to their water as well. The drops directly into the beak will just get it into the bloodstream quicker. :)

I had 2 silkies left in the incubator after a horrible hatch. It's day 22 and no external pip. I candled and could see movement so I waited another 14 hours and nothing! I figured they were going to die if I didn't step in so I started with drilling a small hole. I waited another hour with them wrapped in a moist paper towel. Then I started the zip for them, in one I could see an internal pip. I placed them back in the incubator for a while for a recheck. I took off the fat end of of the shell and wrapped it in the moist towel again and placed it back in the incubator. The other egg I did the same but I couldn't see a beak?? It was turned the wrong way. It was no longer alive so I pulled it out of the shell, it had absorbed the yoke but the poor baby's face was deformed! I worked on the one left in the incubator and got it's head untucked but left him in it's shell just in case it yoke wasn't absorbed. I wrapped him in a paper towel and placed him back in the incubator, he was breathing so I can only hope for the best!?!

I just check and it had stopped breathing. I thought I had done everything right but out of 40 something shipped eggs only 2 hatched! A lot of the eggs were broken or totally scrambled in the mail, 18 made it to lockdown but only the 2 Cream Legbar made it! SMH I have a heavy heart tonight!
