Silkie thread!

i have no clue if he looks like one of the original silkies but i do know he has better type than any of my four silkies (two hens two roosters) although he does share the red comb gene that one of my roosters has
What does "better type" mean? Is a red comb bad if he were a SQ?

There is not a red comb gene. A red comb means that either the bird is lacking the Fm gene that causes black skin, or it has other genes such as barring or wheaten that lighten the skin.

What is the FM gene? I don't think he has barring or wheaten because he is really black all over.
