WI-beautiful white roo needs new home

Thank you Suz! I love this little red girl. I've got plans for her in my Red Silkie project. She came from a recessive white silkie male on a bantam Rhode Island Red hen. I've tried the cross with my Paint male on the red hens but only get paints so far. He's the only silkie male I have of breeding age right now. The Paint male is giving me a wide variety of chick colors. Crazy! But crazy in a good way. These three hatched over the weekend. A lavender, a blue/red, and a dark blue. That dark flecking makes me curious if this will be a lavender paint? I've never had a chick with this color down. Blue and red. From Paint x Blue Partridge. This dark blue chick is a fat little pudgy! All three chicks by the same paint cock on a lavender and Blue Partridge hens. If that Red/Blue chick is male, I will put him with the half breed red silkie. If it's female, I'll put her in the porcelain project.
Oh yes I see spots on that little lavender already :) they are all adorable I love that little red one! I know you do a lot of hatching do you have any trouble finding homes for the ones you don't want to keep? Seems like it's getting harder to find homes.

Second week photos are done! Can't believe the changes in the past week. The guinea and MF are getting a lot larger and have more feathers than the silkies.

My cat decided he wanted in on the photo shoot yesterday and kept sitting on the laptop/stage. LOL

Here are the two previous weeks for comparison:

I haven't re-homed or sold any birds yet this year. I've hatched out eight batches since late spring and now have a total of 52 chicks under the age of three months. I'm growing them all out to at least six months before choosing breeding females or males. Some that turn out what people call pet quality will go in the stock pot. I make large batches and freeze it. I do not sell or give away pet quality. There are enough of those in the world and I don't add any to the pool. I have done strict selection over the last few years and get very few DQ in these hatches. Four out of 52 chicks this year had DQ defects. Three came from one specific mating and I culled both the male and the female that produced them.

For a bird to make it into my breeding program, it is going to be exceptional. My breeding pens are going to be kept to ten adults only in each variety. Extra Silkies that I consider breeding quality but don't make the cut for my pens will be better specimens than are typically offered for sale. There are people on waiting lists for those that I let go this fall.

I am in love with this years hatch. They are the future for my Silkie breeding goals.

Thank you Suz. :D

Here are update pic's of my grow out chicks. Ages nine through seven weeks. I'm crazy about them and want to test breed all of them.

My adult chickens run together separate from the grow out silkies. Some white silkie chicks are in this flock. They all run with the LF HRIR.

My grow out silkies are raised on the other half of my property. Ages nine to seven weeks here. The very young chicks keep away from the big kids by choice.

One of my best nine week old Porcelain chicks. A pretty male.

These two will maybe go in the Blue Partridge pen.

So will this one.

Nothing like a blue silkie bum.

One of the seven week old paint chicks. A pretty male.

They are all thriving on the lawn every day. Twenty eggs left in the incubator and then I'm done hatching for the season. The goal was to hatch 75 chicks this year. Nearly there.
