Hi there I hope someone can give me some advice. I got a chicken family 2 weeks ago. It is a Silkie mom and dad and their 6 (adopted)chicks. The lady I got them from told me the Silkie rooster was picked on by her other roosters and some times falls over. So for the last two weeks he's been slow moving but otherwise hes alright, he's been eating and drinking. Well yesterday my son found him on his side and he couldn't get up. We brought him in and gave him some homemade electrolites he seemed a little better today so my daughter and I decided to bathe him and see if we could tell what's wrong. With him being wet we can now see his right wing is limp and upon inspection we see a small wound and there is tiny bugs around it. I'm not sure what to do next? Any advice?

Can you get a pic of the bugs and wound?

Wow, oh know poor guy. Ok if I wre u I would dilute so poroxide and spray on the wound to try to get the bugs off. Then I'd dab neodporan on the wound. Maybe spray do wound spray that's safe for animals on it. Just keep it clean and keep an eye on it. He could have a neralogical problem with him. As for the limp wing there's not much you csn do sbout it. Hopefully someone with more experience csn help you. Also I'd post this on the injuries and emergency thread.

3rd week photos are done! If you compare to the photos in my previous post, you may notice 2 who look totally different. Molly is turning buff and a silkie expert on the Silkie thread says she thinks she'll be porcelain. Also Martha is turning grey partridge, she started out as a yellow chick. These were all taken outside this time so you can really see the colors. Vera, the guinea, was actually really good for me and I got so many good pics from her. She is so wild but I am hoping raising her with silkies and handling her daily will calm her down.

We also built a new coop for the chicks on Saturday.

I've been eyeing this porch swing-style bird feeder for months, since it was end of season Lowe's had it on closeout and I couldn't resist. (I've also seen it at TSC) There's room for feed in the bottom of the swing. Rita the MF flew on it once, but by the time I got my camera out and on, she flew back to the coop. The chicks are slowly getting more comfortable coming out of the coop, but enjoying all the room in the coop compared to the brooder.

The adult chickens don't seem to pay any attention to the chicks or their new coop. They were outside free ranging all day while we built the second coop. Here's our rooster Top Knot. He's got his hands full with 6 silkie hens, 2 pullets (hoping anyways!) and 4 MF pullets. But he still manages to find time to come and pose for me while I take photographs around the yard. LOL

Hey guys, just wanted to get your opinion on my partridge chick. She's always had a wider comb, but her crest is starting to get more rounded so I am crossing my fingers for a girl. What do you guys think?

I also love how my little black is turning out. She has such a sweet face, i love her :) What do you guys think of her quality?
