Lol. My BFF's mom's name is Marilyn... And she coo coo! I was thinking originally Maggie arose cause my friend is a pretty blond and that's her name. But everyone else is named after food. So I started calling her Lolli. Short for lollipop, but that may change.

I need a coop...help. I currently have 14 chickens. All silkies. 2 babies and 12 adults. They all sleep piled up in corner of my little tikes playhouse I made into a coop...they only sleep in it at n8ght only.

I was looking online... is there a coop you recommend to buy that's not too expensive that can stand outdoors well.

Is 36W by 45L
I like size but want something off ground and easy to clean

How many silkies can you put in that playhouse?

I went to the feed store today to get scratch and ended up coming home with a silkie cross. S/he doesn't have black eyes and doesn't seems as fluffy as purebred silkies. Someone had brought back a flock of young chickens back to the store. This one was the last one and was so adorable I couldn't stand it. No name yet!

Just thought i would chime in on the Silkie/LF brooding together. I have never tried to keep them together in the same brooder but i don't separate them once they come out of the brooder.For the most part everyone gets along as long as they know their place. I do have to re home some LF on occasion for being to aggressive but its it toward everyone not just the Silkies. I do have one Silkie and a Sizzle that are higher them most the LF on the pecking order. Maybe it helps that my only rooster is a large Silkie and they have free range to my back yard. I probable wouldn't try it if they were in a run all day long. I have also found that if you let the Silkies hatch out the LF and raise them that they will always be higher then the LF that they hatched. One of my top hens is one of my smallest bird i have, a bantam RIR.

I don't see why you can't make this into a fully functional chicken coop. If you Google playhouse chicken coops you will see that a lot of people have used these before. You could get a pallet and mount some legs on it then attach the playhouse to it. I would think the plastic would make for easy spray down a sterilization when needed. Plus you could paint it and it just looks really cool...

This is a great idea! I'm going to look around at yard sales for old ones!

I think it's a great idea. Just make sure it is in the shade. They could get really hot if not in the shade. They have a special type of spray paint that is for plastic so you can make it look really cool.

Yeah, I'm in Tucson, AZ, so it doesn't get quite as hot as Las Vegas, but still stifling.

I can't hazard a guess on colors or sexing. Just wanted to say they sure are beautiful. I had four silkies, from two months on, I thought that three of them acted roo-ish, and one acted as a hen. And in the end, I had three crowers, and one quiet hen. I say had, because I just rehomed two of the roosters to a great home, to spare my Lemon from too many amorous advances...
