Silkie thread!

So my new found rooster Percy has attempted to start crowing. The 1st couple of days I though someone was dying until I figured out what was happening. It's hilarious but he won't do it when I am in the room. I am trying to record it

I actually got video of one of mine attempting to crow and he looked shocked like "did that come out of me?" Lol

Will the votes do anything? Just curious. I voted. Yes of course. Looks like the 'No' is winning so far. I just found a story the other day about a lady that's going to the city counsel here where I live to get roosters banned in the city and the number of chickens you're allowed to keep limited. There's already noise, odor, and sanitation ordinances.

I do understand that she's upset because her particular rooster issue is someone who hasn't made any effort to keep their rooster from crowing at 3am in the morning for an hour or two but putting up new laws because of one person??

Okay I'll quit ranting now.

Not sure how much it will help, she was asking people to vote so it might help some. Maybe we can turn that no around! :D

Here's hoping! :fl

I think it's just a poll in general not a vote. From what I gathered the judge gave her a week to get his incessant crowiing under control or he would have to go. The clip I saw on the news showed him in action and it looked like it was in the city with small lots. She was going to try a collar on him. I think if he was my bird I would kennel him too and put him in the house or garage at night. I love these birds but if they were disturbing my neighbors I would do everything possible to remedy the situation. I know there are loud dogs, I have one and I have to stop her by watching her in the yard and keeping her in the house with me, it's just being a considerate neighbor, I can tune her out but why expect that from my neighbors. I hope she's able to get this guy toned down so he can stay and everyone can get along. Best wishes sultan momma!

I just discovered that one of my silkies is the top hen of my bantam flock! It gave me a real kick to see her chase one of my cochins(former top hen) away from the food one morning when I was late bringing it out to them.

My three silkies are growing and getting so sweet my dark one has three different colors black, grey and some brown. My roo has started crowing and is so funny and at times he would stretch his neck out as if he is going to crow but nothing comes out

Your silkies are so cute! My rooster recently started crowing and he does the weird neck thing, too. The dark silkie is a partridge.

the dark one is a partridge? I would never new that That is cool. I know at times I just want to hug them but they don't like it lol. I have a turkey that is 2 days younger than the silkies. He is growing up to be a beautiful bird also

How old are your silkies that are crowing and are they doing it on a regular basis? Just wondering, here I have two birds that are going to be 5 months old on 12/4 one looks and acts like a rooster, thought I heard him crow once a couple of months ago looking for his hatch mate and that was it. Cute birds by the way!
