Silkie thread!

everyone else runs out into the front yard and enjoys themselves but the silkies are kinda skittish

Were they raised with the other birds in your flock? That can make a difference. How old are they? How many of them do you have? All of my birds were raised together and get along well, but my three Silkies still seem to prefer their own company the most. My run is only 16'x24' and they do explore, but I've also noticed that they spend more time inside the coop than the other chickens. And when they explore, it's always as a trio. My Silkie pullet was the most tentative of the three until I started sitting in the run with her in my lap for "cuddle sessions". From the safety of my lap she took a good look around and now doesn't hesitate to check things out, but even the slightest hint of anything potentially dangerous sends all three Silkies running into the coop. They're smart little survivors.

yes they were all raised together, other then the seven LF they were from my coop that flooded. they must be close to a year we got him in feb? i think of 2014 (and still havent gotten eggs or heard crows XD) and i have three, two females and a male

have you checked the valley trader? There are usually lots of chicken ads in it. Silkies are almost always in it. The new one comes out today.

Our temps are supposed to get down to 10° F tonight.
Should I be concerned about my Silkies?
I think they would stay warm enough in the coop, but the high tomorrow is only 31°, so they won't be able to get much warmth outside.
Unfortunately I work 40 miles from home and there won't be anyone there to let them out later or check on them.
