Silkie thread!

Hmm, never had any problems out of my bunch. I have the option of sending them to my Mom's (she has a nice big brooder cage in her barn) if there is any bickering... but for the time being, I'm just going to see how things unfold. I prefer raising them here so that I can acclimate them to human contact more easily. I do appreciate the advice though! :D

So far, looks like I have at least three Frizzles, and one looks to be a Frizzled Silkie! A few are Silkie/Faverolles cross, so I'm excited to see how they turn out as well!
I have a frizzled Silkie and I just love her! Ruffles is about 8 months old and is quite the character. I would love to see picture of the "Silkie/Faverolles cross" chicks...I imagine they will be adorable!

I wondered about the hermaphroditism with my crazy hen who looks and acts like a rooster but lays eggs, she even crowed once. I had two young roosters with the three pullets, two laid fertile eggs but my boss hens eggs were never fertile. She also likes to pretend brood with her hatchmate but it only lasts about an hour then she's off. She'll role eggs out from under her, I was kind of hoping she'd go broody too and co parent. If my broody girl hatches her eggs i will have to keep the boss away from them. the other two pullets would be okay around chicks they're docile.

Well my brother is going to take one of my roos since they arent getting along but he won't be able to take him until the end of March. I dont think it's a good idea to put them back together so I was thinking about bringing Olaf in after Johann heals and try to tame him a bit more. Can he be alone that long?
