I've got a pullet that never grew to be the right size. She's the same age as others that are now laying. She has yet to lay an egg. She has always acted fine till a few weeks ago when I was moving the juveniles around so they could all stay warm when it was so frigid. She started to get depressed acting. Her last move I had brought her in the carport room so she could be away from the remaining cockerel. I'm thinking she suffered brain damage. She will eat but don't want any water, She can't keep her balance and when she does move around it's in backward circles. The past 5 days I've been giving her water by tube feeding and also tube feeding her so she gets enough food. I've also been giving her a multivitamin by mouth everyday.

She isn't all fluffed up or sleeps with her head under her wing. Her feathers are mostly nice and shiny. She even attempts to preen but looses her balance.

Does anybody have any advice for me to help her get over her problem. I have 4 weeks till I'm going out of town and there won't be anybody that can take care of her special needs. Somebody is coming to feed and water but thats just once a day. She has to be taken care of 24/7 right now and I don't trust anybody else to do it without killing her in the process.

I was thinking of giving her vitamin E but not sure since she's getting the multivitamin.

I'm not an expert but I tried to save a little show girl silkie that was born with an indented skull only 1 eye and a crossed beak.(I went to get some chicks and found her in the broader and They just gave her to me just so I could try to save her). She would get off balance walk backwards in circles only and would not eat or drink. I think she had brain damage because of the indented skull. Sadly I did everything I could do but she did die. But at least she wasn't trampled to death in the broader. So to me it sounds like your little one has brain damage based on how you explained What she was doing compared to what my baby was doing. I have heard that scrambled eggs are good energy booster and good source of vitamins for chicks. I hope someone else might have more info for you. Best of luck. I hope she recovers. Please keep us posted.

Does her head go up underneath her and does she drag it around? I've had a one of these before. You can give her a little piece of baby aspirin, not regular aspirin. About a 1/4 of a piece. And Poly-Vi-Sol. 1ml of it but if it's a young pullet maybe 0.5ml. Make sure to get the one without iron.
