Silkie thread!

@rayray983

my porcelain girly has some pretty wing patterns. your baby could be buff with patterned wings.

as a chick she didn't have any pattern, and sometimes chick feathers are a lot different from adult feathers. they loose them and become "simpler". for example:

so maybe your baby could just loose them and come out solid as an adult. anyway, heres my silkie with the cool wings:

ummm ok well the wing feathers look like a silkie, I can't tell from the picture does the chick have black skin and 5 toes?
It might be a red. I think reds sometimes have head marks (black dot)
And I know in other red breeds they can get other colors in the wing feathers at first and in silkies because of the texture of the feathers it might look like barring.... But I'm not an expert so.... It could be a cuckoo, but I don't think so. #1 reason being most the time tsc has hatchery chicks and most hatchery just sells basic colors....
Hopefully someone more experienced can help you, but my guess would be a re or dark buff
Thanks i know its silkie used to breed white silkies all od these have black skin and 5 toes on each foot nice fuz down legs the coloring has thrown me because ive been reading up on both buffs and partridge and if it is buff the black in the wings isnt good but if it ends up beig partridge its ok lol either way doesnt matter cause they are just gona be pet back yard silkies not showing just couldnt pass them up since tsc had em for 1.99 each

All of mine are pets too I don't breed or show, I just learned something New myself, I totally lied to you, as far as I can tell there's not a red silkie. My bad sorry, learn something New everyday :) I think you are on the right track, but I still don't think it partridge because it doesn't have the trade Mark chipmunk stripes/pattern. Keep the pic coming of how the feathers change or turn out !

Ive heard buffs refered to as red or gold silkies i just figured thats what you were refering to

She was only a little over a year old.
I recently changed the girls over to layer from the Purina flock raiser since they were no longer in a mixed setting.
I suppose it's possible she might have ingested something larger or rougher than she could handle, bark, etc.. because we are pretty much in the woods and have have a lot of dead fall of limbs due to rain and wind, but it's hard to say.
I'm wondering about internal laying since I believe she stopped about a week ago.

I'll keep an eye on the rest and what do you suggest for a wormer?
They're all adults, so no chicks to consider.

There are severel on the market but you want to cover more than just roundworm, for that reason I would give wazine a miss. Rooster booster or if you want to cover tape and gape worm valbazen or safegard .

Wow that chick had very long osprey feathers. It has been my experience that most of the yellow chicks turn into white adults . I've even had the prettiest of soft grey turn into white .

Hi guys! I was told I should come over to this thread and share pics of my babies! I also have some questions. I'm a brand new silkie owner so I wanna make sure everything is right since not everything you read on the Internet is right.

What kind of silkies do I have?

How old Are they? I forgot to ask when I got them cause I was so excited!

When can I put them outside? I live in AZ and the highest temp right now is 88 F.

They're getting chick starter food right now. When should they stop this food?

Thanks!!!

Looks like a black two buffs and a white looks to be around 2 weeks old i personally dont move my birds to a outside grow out pen till they are 2 months old as far as chick starter i feed it till about 2 months old then i start mixing it with whatever feed i wanna feed my birds and slowly decrease the amount of chick starter till they are completely on my main chicken feed
